This tour takes you into the ONLY working Slate Mine in England, where the owner Mark Weir shares humorous and sometimes sad stories that have arisen over his 11 years at Honister.
This is a truly one off tour!!
£19.75 per person
You must be fit and active for this tour, a minimum height restriction of 1m 30cm applies.
Bookings are non-refundable, however you can be rebooked for an alternative date. For your safety and security all visitors must report to reception before the tour.
Terms and Conditions
General1.1 These Booking Terms and Conditions apply to the booking of Honister’s Kimberley, Edge and Cathedral Mine Tours (Honister Slate Mine)
1.2 These Booking Terms and Conditions contain important information about participation by you and members of your party and accordingly you acknowledge and agree that all members of your party are aware of and accept these Booking Terms and Conditions
1.3 No variation of these Booking Terms and Conditions will be binding unless agreed in writing by Honister Slate Mine
1.4 Any typographical clerical or other error or omission in any booking confirmation or other documentation issued by Honister Slate Mine (including any electronic documentation) shall be subject to correction without any liability on the part of Honister Slate Mine
1.5 Honister Slate Mine reserves the right to make changes to Honister’s Mine Tours whether to conform with any applicable safety or other statutory requirements or otherwise
Booking Confirmation
2.1 No booking shall be deemed to have been accepted unless accepted in writing or otherwise confirmed by Honister Slate Mine or its authorised agents (which shall include e-mail confirmation of booking)
2.2 These Booking Terms and Conditions incorporate Honister Slate Mine’s Safety Rules. You and each member of your party will be required to read and agree to the Safety Rules before being allowed to participate in Honister’s Mine tours
2.3 You must advise Honister Slate Mine as soon as possible of any mistake in any booking confirmation. Honister Slate Mine will use its best endeavours to ensure that you and your party’s participation commences at the time booked and it shall be the responsibility of each participant to ensure that they arrive in sufficient time. Late arrivals may not be permitted to participate and no refunds or compensation will be payable in such circumstances
Health and Safety
3.1 Honister Slate Mine reserves the right to refuse participation or to remove a participant from Honister’s Mine Tours should it deem it necessary to do so. This includes a participant who does not comply with the safety rules and advice or who is deemed to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs
3.2 For the duration of Honister’s Mine Tours participants will led by a guide. A participating adult must accompany under 16 year olds.
3.3 All participants in Honister’s Mine Tours must be reasonably fit and healthy and, for Honister’s Edge Mine Tour, a minimum of 1m 30/ 4ft 3inches tall and at least 10 years old.
3.4 All participants are required to act responsibly and courteously at all times and to respect other participants. Honister Slate Mine shall be entitled to prevent any person from participating in or completing Honister’s Mine Tours in the event that it deems the behaviour of any participant unsuitable
3.5 Participants must be dressed appropriately (see clause 4 below) and Honister Slate Mine reserves the right to refuse participation to any participant who is not appropriately dressed
3.6 Honister’s Mine Tours will run in most weather conditions
3.7 No refunds or compensation or postponement will be payable or permitted by Honister Slate Mine in the event that any participant is not permitted to or decides not to undertake or complete Honister’s Mine Tours for the reasons set out in this clause
Clothing
4.1 It shall be the responsibility of each participant to ensure that they are dressed appropriately.
4.2 Participants should wear clothing appropriate to the weather conditions and which they do not mind getting wet dirty or even damaged.
4.3 Long hair must be tied back so that it does not hinder the close fitting or straps of the helmet
4.4 Participants must wear footwear which surrounds and encloses the whole foot and has a good grip. No sandals, slip on shoes, open toed shoes or canvas/cotton shoes are permitted.
4.5 Honister Slate Mine will not be responsible for any damage to or loss of clothing or other personal items resulting from participation in Honister’s Mine Tours
Cancellations
5.1 You shall be entitled to cancel your booking subject to Honister Slate Mine receiving your request for cancellation at least 24 hours before the booked start time. Any requests for cancellation must be made in person or by telephoning Honister Slate Mine on 017687 77230 or outside office hours by e-mail to info@honister.com. You shall be entitled to rebook an alternative date within 12 months of your booking in the event of cancellation under this clause but no refund or compensation shall be payable
5.2 Honister Slate Mine shall be entitled to cancel your booking at any time. In the event that Honister Slate Mine decides to cancel your booking it shall use its best endeavours to notify you as soon as possible. You shall be entitled to rebook an alternative date within 12 months of your booking in the event of cancellation under this clause but no refund or compensation shall be payable
5.3 In the event that it proves necessary to close Honister’s Mine Tours for reasons beyond the control of Honister Slate Mine and in circumstances where you have commenced participation in Honister’s Mine Tours you shall not be entitled to any refund in part or in whole. In such circumstances Honister Slate Mine may but shall not be obliged to offer alternative dates or times at reduced rates
Price and Payment methods
6.1 Payment in full at Honister Slate Mine’s current rates shall be due at the time of booking
6.2 Payment can be made by debit or credit card either online or by contacting the booking line on 017687 77714
Liability
7.1 Except as otherwise provided in these Booking Terms and Conditions Honister Slate Mine shall not be responsible for the loss or damage of or to any property or to any person arising from the booking or participation in Honister’s Mine Tours
7.2 Parking facilities are available at Honister Slate Mine and any vehicles are left at the owners risk and subject to any terms and conditions and the payment of any fees as may be required
7.3 Except as provided in these Booking Terms and Conditions any liability of Honister Slate Mine shall be limited to any charges paid to Honister Slate Mine
7.4 Nothing in these Booking Terms and Conditions is intended to or shall limit the liability of Honister Slate Mine in respect of death or personal injury caused by the negligence of Honister Slate Mine or of its employees agents or contractors
Interpretation
8.1 If any term or condition is determined to be illegal invalid or otherwise unenforceable it shall be severed and deleted from these Booking Terms and Conditions and the remaining terms and conditions shall survive remain in full force and continue to be binding and enforceable
8.2 Nothing above shall confer on any third party any benefit or right to enforce any of these Booking Terms and Conditions
8.3 These Booking Terms and Conditions shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of England and Wales and you and Honister Slate Mine submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales
